WELCOME TO OUR HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM!

High School Relgious Education focuses on spiritual development, the “hot topics” of youth, social teaching, discipleship, and leadership. It's a combination of grade level small group activity and all-grades large group activity. The Sacrament of Confirmation is received in fall of 10th grade with preparation classes during the 9th grade school year.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES

High school students meet during the school year in the lower level gym on Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:45 PM. Confirmation is a separate registration and is described below.

Join FLOCKNOTE for text reminders & messages about youth activities.

TEXT StPatYouthMin to 84576 to sign up.

If your child will be absent, call 277-3036 as soon as possible but no later than 6 PM class night.

Unexcused absences will be followed up by phone for the safety of your child.

If Cedar Falls Schools cancels or dismisses early due to weather, Faith Formation classes are automatically cancelled.

In the event of inclement weather after the school day, we use KWWL, Facebook, and/or email to let you know about cancellations.

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation is not a graduation but a stepping stone to take ownership of our Catholic faith and dive deeper into it. Youth wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the fall of grade 10 should have at least two years of prior catechetical instruction and need to do steps one and two below:

Ninth grade youth are required to participate in religious education in either of the following ways:

Columbus Catholic High School students have religion during the school day.

Public school students register for Wednesday evening Relgious Education class.

In January, Columbus and Relgious Education 9th graders register specifically for Confirmation via Realm. Sacramental preparation sessions begin in March for reception of the sacrament in October. Sacramental preparation consists of five sessions, a retreat, Rite of Enrollment, seven service hours, two interviews, and several sponsor & parent activities. How to register

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCES

Youth have a variety of opportunities outside of Wednesday evenings to grow in faith and have fun in a Christ-centered setting. Activities vary from year to year to provide a variety of experiences during high school. Opportunities may include:

  • LOTEC (Life on the Edge Colorado)
  • National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in odd numbered years
  • Teens Encounter Christ (TEC)
  • ICYC
  • Local service activities
  • Service trips
  • Seasonal or holiday special events
