“HELP US HELP OUR NEIGHBORS”
5K Run/Walk Fundraiser
Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025 | 10 a.m.
Exchange Park, Waterloo
"Help Us Help Our Neighbors" is the theme for our first Walk/Run, celebrating St. Vincent de Paul's 75th anniversary of serving the Cedar Valley. It is a measured 5K, self-timed run/walk around Exchange Park in Waterloo. Mark your calendars for September 20 with a 10 a.m. start.
Get your family and friends together for a fun morning helping serve the underprivileged neighbors in your community. One-hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward helping your neighbors in need. A free tee shirt and a light sandwich breakfast will be served by the Waterloo Knights of Columbus following the race. Scott Gall, owner of the Runner's Flat and Joe Sevcik, a long-time member of St. Pat’s, have been very helpful with suggestions and help to make this a success. We have kept the registration fees affordable for more families to join in the fun. Get your registration forms in before Sept. 1 to insure you get the proper size tee shirt(s). We will have a limited number of tee shirts available after that date.
Christ invites you to serve
Are you looking for ways to experience God in your life? Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul invite you to share in their ministry of experiencing God in those we serve. We see Christ in our friends in need, and when we see Christ, we experience God. Jesus told us, “The poor will be with us always.” And they are found all over our diocese, including right here in Cedar Falls. There are families and individuals with limited resources who are having problems paying their rent or utilities and may not even have enough money to buy food or clothes for their children.
St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic non-profit organization, and our services include a food pantry, rent & utilities assistance, Community Meals, household supplies distribution, Christmas food boxes, toy giveaway, clothing distribution, and community engagement among other resources. We do this with an all-volunteer staff out of our Outreach Center at 320 Broadway, Waterloo.
It is Christ who asks you to help, it is Christ's children who are in need, and it is Christ who invites you to serve.
Our Saint Patrick Conference of St. Vincent de Paul works closely with our Matthew 25 outreach program. We exist with all volunteer servants and see Jesus in the faces of those we serve.
