Ascension: Altaration Family Night Series

Wednesday, May  20 & 27 at 7:00 PM CDT

Join Mark Hart and Emily Wilson LIVE for a 4-Week Exploration of the Mass!

  • Each Wednesday in May, Mark and Emily will lead your family in a brief 30-minute experience of prayer, music, and discussion around the Mass and the Eucharist. Tune in to Ascension’s Facebook page to watch the 1st & 2nd sessions! A free Altaration family guide was made available on May 6.
  • Our youth have the opportunity to go through the series during their Jr. High years. This should be a nice look back at what they’ve learned. And help answer any questions they may still have.

The Life You Were Made For show with Chris Stefanick .The show will be premiering on Facebook on Chris’ page and EWTN’s Facebook page at 8 p.m. ET. It will also be available on WEDNESDAY, MAY 20 AT 8 P.M. ET

    • Immaculée Ilibagiza on The Power of Forgiveness (was a 2019 NCYC speaker)
      • Immaculée Ilibagiza is a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan genocide that took the lives of nearly one million Tutsis. Men, women and children, including her entire family except for one of her brothers, were massacred at the hands of Hutu marauders. Immaculée found shelter at a pastor’s home, where she and seven other women hid from the deadly rebel mob in a 3-by-4-foot bathroom for 91 days. During those 91 days of unimaginable suffering, Immaculée found her faith, taught herself English, and most incredibly, committed herself to a life of peace, hope and forgiveness, even for those who had murdered her family.
    • Elizabeth Zelasko on Making Sacred Space in Your Home
      • Elizabeth Zelasko is a Colorado-based artist, iconographer, and sister of Chris Stefanick. She works with Catholic publishers and institutions, creating commissioned pieces and gives talks on the theological aspects and material processes of writing a traditional icon.

April 20, 2020        Covid-19 Update

  • Youth Bible Study - Monday at 2 PM
  • Youth Group Lunch - Tuesday at noon
  • Youth Prayer Group - Wednesday at 10 AM
  • YFF Catechist & Youth Leaders Check-in - Thursday at 11 AM
  • Game Day - Friday at 1 PM

Due to the new restrictions laid out by Governor Reynolds for Region 6, we were unable to deliver a special treat to our RE youth. We still hope to gather as a Faith Formation family sometime this summer. That will of course depend on how the pandemic continues to affect us. Even though a treat wasn’t able to be delivered, youth should watch their mailboxes for a note from their small group catechist.

Religious Education classes are held Wednesday evenings from September through mid-April. Currently St. Patrick only offers Religious Education for grades 7-9. Religious Education is a pre-requisite for Confirmation sacramental preparation for those not attending parochial school (Columbus/St. Patrick). Grades 7-9 meet in the Youth Center/Wood Gym (lower level of the church) from 6-7:30 pm. Youth may enter through the Washington Street entrance or Parish doors by the Link Hallway.  Church entrances are NOT open.

  • If your child will be absent, please call 277-3036 as soon as possible but no later than 5 PM class night. Unexcused absences will be followed up by phone for the safety of your child.
  • The quickest way to learn of cancellations is by notification to your cell phone. Sign up for notifications via Realm, choosing the Parents (Faith Fm. Gr. 7-9) group. If Cedar Falls Schools cancels or dismisses early due to weather, Faith Formation classes are automatically cancelled. In the event of inclement weather after the school day, we send a notification and use KWWL, Facebook, and/or email.
  • 2019-20 Calendar:  Jr. High Religious Education

The Sacrament of Confirmation is received in Fall of 10th grade with preparation classes taking place during the 9th grade school year. Visit the Sacraments page for more information. Confirmation registration is now closed for 2020. It will reopen in January 2021 for confirmation in fall 2021. Confirmation Calendar

All 7-12th grade youth are invited to participate in Youth Ministry throughout the school year and summer. Youth Ministry is organized by Junior High (7-9) and High School (10-12).  St. Patrick Youth Ministry uses the three goals of Renewing the Vision as it’s guide in creating events and activities that will reach those goals through faith, service, community, and ministry.

  • Goal 1: To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
  • Goal 2: To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
  • Goal 3: To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
