Youth Ministry Events

Annual Valentine's Day Food Drive

Feb. 11 & 12. Bags will be distributed on Feb. 4 & 5.  Teens can help distribute bags after Masses or load the trucks on Feb. 12.  Donations will be given to the Cedar Falls St. Vincent DePaul and the Matthew 25 fund.

Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser

Feb. 11.  Mark your calendars to help prepare and serve the meal.  This is a major fundraiser for youth ministry and we need your help!  It takes 100 teens and adults to make this happen, so mark your calendars.  Talk to Katie to volunteer.

Rite of Enrollment

On Feb. 18 & 19, the Confirmation class will celebrate the Rite of Enrollment.  The candidates will sign the Book of Elect with their sponsors at their sides.  This means they intend to complete Confirmation.

Lunar Bowling

We are planning a lunar bowling outing for Friday, February 10th. Anyone in grades 7-12 is welcome to join us. We will be begin at the St Pat’s Youth Center at 8:00pm for some games and eats and then venture off to Valley Park Lanes for bowling from 9:00-11:00pm. I am so excited and hoping to break my all time low score of 14! Join us and watch me try to break my score!

Circles

Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, and Mariah Carey: what do they all have in common? They started their careers by singing in their church’s choir! How about it? We are always looking for new people who like to praise with singing. The high school group CIRCLES is scheduled to sing on  February 18th at 5:00pm mass. We will practice on the Tuesday before at 6:30 in church. We will be singing more upbeat and youth oriented songs at the masses we are singing at. Consider this special ministry. (And no you don’t HAVE to have a good voice to join, I didn’t!) We also welcome any musical instruments that you might play.

Nuts & Bolts

Nuts & Bolts is an Archdiocesan Youth Ministry workshop open to any teen or adult in the Archdiocese.  There are several workshops based on developing better religion classes, creating prayer services, and providing more meaningful service experiences and retreats.  Call Katie at 277-3036 if you are interested in singing up!

Confirmation

Confirmation will be Saturday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m.  Practice is yet to be determined.  Both sponsor and candidate need to be at practice.  All requirements must be completed by April 1.

Catholic Heart Workcamp

We are once again planning a service trip through Catholic Heart Workcamp.  This year we are planning on going to San Antonio, TX, July 2-8. Everyone who has gone would tell you it's worth spending one week of your summer helping others out.  Not only did we serve others, but we made a lot of friends and were able to share our faith with teens from all over the United States.  Fundraisers will be done to help with the total cost.  Space is limited so reserve your spot with Katie soon!

Quest

We’ve heard of them. Monty Python went on one, so did Indiana Jones. There’s even a phone company named after it. What it is?  Look no further than Parkersburg! Quest is a 2-day retreat with other youth from the area exploring their relationship with God in a laid back comfortable way. There are members of St Pat’s Retreat Team, teens, and adults on the team this year. A retreat is basically a chance to hear about others’ life experiences and a chance to talk about God with a group of other teens your age. Spaces are filling up quick; so don’t miss this chance to participate!

Contact the office if you have any questions 277-3036.

Lock-In

Then our Lock-In at the YMCA set for January 27th is for you! We will start at 8:00pm on Friday night and go until 8:00am the next day. There will be a variety of activities to participate in, including swimming, karaoke, a talent show, movies, and much, much more. Cost for the event is 30. That includes use of the facilities and pizza. Along with yourself, bring a friend and something sweet or salty to share with the group. Take a look at the flier in the back of the newsletter for more information. See you there!

Junior High Youth Rally

What’s a Youth Rally? Sounds “not fun” – No way! Would Katie ever do something not fun? I think not! A youth rally usually features a speaker who will come and talk about faith and God but in a fun, make-you-wanna-listen-sorta-way. It’s a chance to meet people from all over. Bob Perron will be a featured speaker. I heard him speak at NCYC this year and he was hilarious. February 18th. Mark it on your calendars! Friends are invited also.
