Amy Hoyer

Amy Hoyer,
Faith Formation
Preschool - 9th Grade
I was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and raised in an Italian Catholic Parish.  I moved to Iowa when I married my husband, Todd, and Cedar Falls has been home for 27 years.  We raised 6 kids in Cedar Falls/St. Patrick Parish and could not think of a better place to raise our family.  I have worked in catechetical ministry for nearly 20 years and have been a member of our parish staff for 11 of those years.  I love what I do in our parish and I love the the kids!  They inspire me by their ideas and honesty.  One day one of the kids told me,  "Jesus is like peanut butter in our lives.  He holds our lives together like peanut butter holds our bread together."  I am so blessed because not too many people are able to have those kinds of conversations and call it "work".  In my spare time I like to cook, Italian, of course, garden, read, make jewelry and relax with my family and friends.

Three siblings and her parents and in-laws still reside in that area so there are frequent trips “home.” Carol attended the University of WI-Platteville and taught in Cassville, WI before moving to Cedar Falls in 1974. Carol worked at Midway Bank for four years as teller, new accounts and loan secretary until the day her first child was born. Carol has been married to Steve Jacobi for 35 years. They have three grown children: Nate and his bride, Katie, live in Northfield, MN. Casey manages a Sherwin Williams store in Davenport, IA and Sheena is employed at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in downtown Chicago. Sheena will soon begin her masters program in Social Work at the University of IL-Chicago. Katie Wilson

Katie Wilson,
Faith Formation/High School

Katie and her family moved to the Cedar Falls area from Rock Island, Illinois in 1990, and chose St. Patrick as their parish. As a child Katie remembers liking the padded pews! Katie's first job as a teenager was working afternoons as the parish secretary during the summer months. So much has changed since those days spent in the old white house! Katie graduated from Loras College in 2000. She spent 5 years teaching, including a time spent volunteering with the Jesuit Volunteer Core working in inner city Milwaukee at an ESL (English as a Second Language) school. Katie has been the Youth Minister since 2005. The best part about her job is interacting with teens and their enthusiasm for life. Katie and her husband Josh have been married for 7 years, and their family includes (step)son Josh (15), daughter Sadie (12/07), and Reid Andrew (11/09). During her "free time" Katie enjoys training for marathons, reading, and being with friends and family.
